Büşra Yılmaz-Depondt is a Senior Expert at Becquerel Institute, a Brussels-based consultancy specializing in solar photovoltaics, where she works on building-integrated PV (BIPV), agrivoltaics, and market intelligence across Europe and Türkiye. Her professional profile combines a chemical engineering background with a decade of hands-on experience in solar technology, industrial strategy, and public communication, bringing a systems-level view to the technical, aesthetic, and policy dimensions of solar integration.
Between 2021-2026, she has served as Chief Technology Officer at Kameleon Solar in the Netherlands, a role extending beyond technology into programme coordination and stakeholder engagement — coordinating multi-stakeholder innovation projects with municipalities, architects, and policy experts, and leading participation in EU-funded programmes including INTERREG, MOOI, and Horizon Europe. She previously held the company’s Product Development Manager role, and before that was a founding team member at Roofit Solar in Estonia, where she helped secure €6.4M in EU funding during the company’s early scale-up phase.
Since 2024, Yılmaz-Depondt has served on the ETIP PV Steering Committee, co-leading a working group on integrated photovoltaics and contributing to the Strategic Research & Innovation Agenda (SRIA) shaping EU-level solar research priorities. Her public engagement includes a TEDx Breda talk on coloured building-integrated photovoltaics (2023), a panel at European Sustainable Energy Week on net-zero manufacturing (2024), and speaking engagements at the Advanced Building Skins Conference in Bern and Dutch Design Week.
She holds an MSc in Engineering (cum laude) in Materials and Processes of Sustainable Energetics from a joint programme between the University of Tartu and Tallinn University of Technology, with a thesis on coloured BIPV systems on metal roofs, and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Ege University, Türkiye. She speaks Turkish (native), English (full professional proficiency), and Dutch.
