Dr. Selçuk Yerci is an Associate Professor at Middle East Technical University (METU) and the Chairperson of the Board at the Center for Solar Energy Research and Applications (ODTÜ-GÜNAM), where he leads efforts to advance solar energy technology. Having earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Physics from METU and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Boston University, and having conducted post-doctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), he currently coordinates European initiatives for integrated photovoltaics through the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA).
His research is dedicated to the development of next-generation, high-efficiency solar cells and the integration of PV into agriculture and other applications. These efforts serve as a direct contribution to several UN Sustainable Development Goals, including Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7) and Climate Action (SDG 13). By bridging the gap between laboratory innovation and real-world application, his projects further support Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11) and Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9). Dr. Yerci has contributed to over 80 academic publications, pushing the boundaries of how solar energy can support a sustainable global future.
