The World’s First Solid-State Battery Motorcycle Enters Production

Estonian manufacturer Verge Motorcycles has announced the start of production for the TS Pro, the world’s first mass-produced electric motorcycle powered by solid-state battery technology. Developed in collaboration with Finnish partner Donut Lab, the innovative model aims to revolutionize the electric vehicle industry’s long-standing range and charging limitations with a driving range of up to 600 kilometers and ultra-fast charging times of under 10 minutes. Offering higher safety and energy density compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries, the TS Pro brings performance-focused electric mobility beyond the prototype stage and directly into the hands of consumers.

At the core of the Verge TS Pro is its solid-state battery technology, which replaces the liquid or gel electrolytes found in conventional batteries with solid materials. This structural transformation increases energy density, minimizes fire risks, and significantly extends the lifespan of the power unit. Long considered a breakthrough technology by global automotive giants, solid-state batteries have now entered commercial production for the first time through Verge’s latest innovation.

Motorcycle enthusiasts can choose between two different battery configurations depending on their needs. The standard model features a 20.2 kWh battery pack, delivering a range of 350 kilometers and supporting 100 kW charging speeds. Meanwhile, the long-range version offers a 33 kWh battery capable of traveling up to 600 kilometers with support for 200 kW ultra-fast charging. Both variants are powered by the Donut Motor 2.0 system, producing an impressive 137 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque for a high-performance riding experience.

Recent tests conducted by Donut Lab also highlighted the durability of the solid-state cells under extreme conditions. Even when exposed to structural damage at high temperatures, the battery system reportedly avoids thermal runaway and fire risks while continuing to operate safely despite some capacity loss. In terms of charging performance, the TS Pro achieves a major breakthrough by charging from 10% to 50% in just five minutes and reaching 70% charge in slightly over nine minutes, approaching the refueling times of internal combustion engine vehicles.

The TS Pro is set to launch in the U.S. market with a starting price of $29,990, while the long-range battery package adds an additional $5,000 to the cost. The motorcycle’s technological infrastructure is supported by a proprietary software platform called “Starmatter,” which offers four different riding modes and can continuously improve through remote software updates. Deliveries for the first reservation holders are expected to begin in the first quarter of the year, while new customer orders are scheduled for delivery toward the end of the year.
