Güven Fidan

Güven Fidan is an engineer, climate-risk analyst, and entrepreneur specializing in climate data analytics and the assessment of physical climate risks for assets and portfolios. He is the Founder of Alkazar, an engineering and climate-risk analytics company supporting banks, insurers, investors, and infrastructure owners across Türkiye and Europe. His work focuses on translating historical climate observations and future climate projections (CMIP, CORDEX, SSP–RCP frameworks) into actionable technical and financial insights. Güven’s expertise covers asset-level hazard analysis—including flood, extreme precipitation, drought, heatwaves, storm, wind, wildfire, and lightning—and the conversion of these hazards into quantifiable financial metrics such as expected annual loss (AAL), revenue-at-risk, and long-term asset value impacts.

With a background in building physics and numerical modeling, he integrates large-scale climate datasets with engineering-based analyses to ensure spatially accurate and decision-relevant risk assessments. His work emphasizes bottom-up, asset-specific methodologies aligned with emerging disclosure frameworks such as TSRS and IFRS S2, supporting organizations in integrating physical climate risk into investment, insurance, and resilience planning.

At COP31, Güven contributes a data-driven and engineering-grounded perspective on the responsible use of climate projections for robust physical risk assessment and climate-resilient decision-making.
